Here I’ll show you how to turn the viral Caesar Pizza Sandwich into the most delicious wrap!

The internet has been doing its thing and this time I’m not mad at it. Pizza and Caesar salad are two of my favourite things in the world, so combining the two makes complete sense to me. I promise it totally works! Follow me…

Pepperoni Pizza Caesar Wraps

Like most food trends I’m about a decade too late, but here we are. To be honest, it’s rare I try a viral recipe because half of them ever seem edible (food snob alert). But I couldn’t say no to this one.

Pepperoni Tortilla Pizza

Nothing fussy going on, just flour tortilla wraps, mozzarella and pepperoni. I like to bake them until the cheese just melts. If you over-bake them they get difficult to roll. It’s not a big issue though, you’ll just have to fold them like a quesadilla.

Caesar Salad

Again, nothing fancy going on. I use store-bought croutons and Caesar dressing but you could easily make your own (see my Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad). Alongside that we’ve got some romaine lettuce and shaved parmesan.

Process shots: spread tortilla with pizza sauce (photo 1), add toppings and bake (photo 2), add salad ingredients to bowl (photo 3), toss (photo 4), remove pizza from oven (photo 5), add salad and roll (photo 6).

Caesaroni Wraps FAQ

won’t the lettuce go soggy?

Romaine lettuce is fairly sturdy so it actually holds up pretty well, assuming you don’t leave it sat there for half an hour. I guess it’s similar to if you grilled the romaine lettuce for the salad, or made a hot-deli sandwich with salad in it. Much less weird than you might think!

What else could I add?

Some grilled chicken would be a delightful addition! Bacon would be great too.

Can I make these ahead of time?

These are best made and eaten fresh.

Serving Caesaroni Wraps

These are deceivingly filling, so don’t feel like you need Sides, especially if they’re for Lunch. Some Potato Wedges would be awesome though.

Equipment

  • Sharp Knife & Chopping Board
  • Large Baking Tray (or two if needed)
  • Large Mixing Bowl & Salad Tossers

Ingredients

  • 2 large Flour Tortillas
  • 4 tbsp Pizza Sauce
  • 100g / 1 cup shredded Mozzarella
  • 16 slices of Pepperoni
  • 1 large head of Romaine Lettuce, chopped
  • 45g / 3/4 cup Croutons, or to preference (see notes)
  • 30g / 1oz shaved Parmesan, or to preference
  • 80 – 120ml / 1/3 – 1/2 cup Caesar Dressing, or to preference (see notes)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 180C/350F.
  • Spread pizza sauce over the tortillas, then scatter over the mozzarella and space out the pepperoni. Place on 1-2 baking trays and bake in the oven for 4-5 minutes, just until the cheese melts. Try not to over-bake them otherwise the tortilla can be tricky to roll.
  • Meanwhile, in a large bowl add the lettuce with your preferred amounts of dressing, croutons and parmesan then toss until well combined.
  • Load up the pizzas with salad then tightly wrap and enjoy! I usually halve them then pinch the ends as I'm eating so the salad doesn't fall out.

Notes

a) Croutons – I just use store-bought croutons for this recipe. You’ll find them in most supermarkets – I used Mediterranean-style herb Croutons, which worked really nicely. Alternatively, you can easily make your own. I recommend checking out my Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad for more guidance.
b) Caesar Dressing – Again, for a rough and ready recipe like this I just use store-bought. You could make your own if you’d prefer. Again, check out my Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad for guidance.
c) Salad Size – This recipe makes a pretty hefty salad so you can really load up the wraps if you like. Alternatively, just serve the extra on the side or make a 3rd wrap with any leftovers.
d) Calories – Per wrap assuming 1/3 cup dressing.
