Here I’ll show you how to use tortilla wraps to create the most delicious pizza imaginable!
If you told me 10 years ago that I’d be creating pizzas out of tortilla wraps for a living, I’d have been too confused to even laugh. But here we are 🤣 Follow me…
Tortilla Wrap Hack
Like most trends on the internet, I’m usually a year or two late to try it. There’s only a handful that have grabbed my attention over the years and this is definitely one of them. Because if you’ve been here for a while, you know I’m mildly obsessed with tortilla wraps 😂
What is the viral tortilla wrap hack?
It’s essentially a folding technique that combines 4 different fillings to create 4 separate layers. I think I’ve seen just about every combination by this point, and I’m sure there’s a pizza version somewhere, but I’ve not seen them cooked in the way we’re going to do today.
What pizza fillings should I use?
You can really use anything you fancy, just make sure you cook any raw meat and fry and veg that needs it. Here’s what I recommend for the 4 segments:
- Pizza Sauce – This is a must. I recommend using a thick pizza or marinara sauce, just so it doesn’t seep into the wraps too much.
- Veg – I’ve gone for peppers, onion, jalapeños and olives. Sweetcorn or mushrooms would also work great for this section.
- Protein/meat – I’ve opted for crumbled sausage, but cooked chicken or ham would go delightfully.
- Cheese – This is a must. I recommend shredded mozzarella.
Process shots: slice wrap from the centre down then add the fillings (photo 1), fold to make one stacked quarter (photos 2, 3 & 4).
Tortilla Wrap Pizza
Typically at this point you’d just toast the wrap and be done with it. However, you already know I had to take things a few steps further. 4 folded wraps so conveniently fit into a large pan, so it’s rude not to add them all in. After you’ve toasted both sides, you’re then (even more conveniently) left with a platform that creates the perfect base for more toppings. You see where I’m going with this 😅
Whack on some more sauce and cheese, add some pepperoni and pop the whole thing under the grill. You’re then left with the ultimate tortilla pizza. A pizza-based pizza. A pizza within a pizza etc etc etc.
Process shots: add wraps to large pan (photo 1), toast both sides (photo 2), add pizza sauce (photo 3), add mozzarella and pepperoni then grill (photo 4).
Tortilla Pizza FAQ
How do I ensure the wraps don’t rip?
If your tortillas are feeling a little brittle or firm, consider popping them in the microwave to loosen them up.
How do I easily flip the wraps?
I slide a plastic spatula underneath it from the outside and lift it up. You can then pivot it and flip it over. Just be careful the fillings don’t fall out.
What if my pan isn’t big enough?
You can just fry them in two batches and place them on a baking tray to cook the topping.
Serving Tortilla Pizzas
As I’m sure you’ve gathered by now, this pizza is pretty darn hearty! The whole thing will serve 2, or 4 with a Side. I’ve opted for fries and salad below.

How to make a Tortilla Wrap Pizza (Full Recipe & Video)
Tortilla Wrap Pizza (Viral Tortilla Hack!)
Equipment
- Sharp Knife & Chopping Board
- Large Oven-Safe Pan & Turner/Spatula
Ingredients
- 4x 9-10"/23-25cm Flour Tortillas
- 240g / 1 cup Pizza Sauce (see notes)
- 200-250g / 2-2.5 cups shredded Mozzarella
- 1 large Pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 small White Onion, thinly sliced
- handful of Black Olives, thinly sliced
- handful of sliced Jalapeños
- 5-6 Pork Sausages, meat squeezed from skins
- 12 slices of Pepperoni
- few pinches of Oregano
- Olive Oil, as needed
Instructions
- Fry the sausage meat in a large pan with a dash of oil until golden brown, crumbling with your wooden spoon as you go. Remove and fry the onions and pepper in the leftover fat until softened. Remove and place to one side.
- Stack the tortillas on a large chopping board and make a slice from the centre down to the bottom. Lay them out on a clean surface and spread pizza sauce in the bottom-right quarter of each one. Add the veg to the quarter above, then add the meat to the top left and finish with mozzarella. One by one fold up the sauce over the veg, then fold over the sausage and finish with the mozzarella. Press down to secure the filling (see video below for guidance).
- Preheat the grill to HIGH.
- Slot the wraps in the pan and place it over medium heat. Fry them for a few minutes or until golden and crisp on the bottom (you can peek to check). Use a plastic spatula to carefully flip them over and fry until the other side begins to crisp. If they're charring quite quickly just lower the heat. Spread pizza sauce over the top, then add mozzarella, pepperoni and a few pinches of oregano.
- Place under the grill until the pepperoni crisps and the cheese melts. Serve and enjoy!
